# Why Looputo

How leveraged looping is served today, and how Looputo approaches it differently.

Leveraged looping has been a core DeFi strategy since the first lending markets. Opening the position has never been the hard part; managing it over time is. Existing products each address part of the problem and leave the rest to the depositor.

Looputo automates the full lifecycle of an individual position: it opens at a chosen leverage, deleverages as it approaches liquidation, unwinds when carry turns negative, and corrects leverage drift, with no dashboards to watch and no keeper to run.

### Existing Approaches

**One-click loopers** open a loop in a single transaction, but provide no automation afterward. Maintaining solvency and profitability remains a manual task for the depositor.

**Looping vaults** automate at the vault level, but risk is pooled: every depositor shares one leverage and one outcome, and withdrawals typically go through a queue or an epoch, so capital cannot exit the moment conditions change.

### What Looputo Does Differently

Looputo combines the automation of vault designs with the individual risk control of standalone positions.

| | One-click loopers | Looping vaults | Looputo |
| ------------------------- | ----------------- | ---------------- | ------------ |
| Automation after opening | None | Yes | Yes |
| Liquidation protection | None | Vault-level | Per position |
| Negative carry protection | None | Rare | Per position |
| Leverage selection | Per position | Fixed for all | Per position |
| Loss isolation | Per position | Pooled | Per position |
| Exit | Instant | Queued / delayed | Instant |

Each position sets its own leverage, and its losses are isolated from every other position: a conservatively sized position is never exposed to another depositor's leverage.
